Petit Skull Signet Ring
The Petit Skull Signet Ring is the first of many in the Petit Signet series. These signet rings are smaller than our usual signet rings and features a recess in the shape of a diamond with a skull motif. The silver skull emerges from the darkened recess, giving a stark contrast.
Skulls have historically been worn as a reminder of one's mortality. Memento mori, latin for “remember that you must die” reminds us of the transient, fleeting nature of life. The skull serves as a reminder to live our lives to the fullest without regret.
The word signet originated from the Latin word "signum" meaning "sign" or "mark". Signet rings were historically worn to symbolize authority and power, as well as used on sealing wax to leave the wearer's identifying mark. These rings were incredibly personal to the wearer, and would often be destroyed once the owner has passed as to not allow others to use the same.
Over time, our rings will accumulate scratches, scars, memories. Each of these perfect imperfections marks a special incident in your life's timeline, a timestamp of sorts. These scars may darken over time, adding to the raw beauty and uniqueness to your piece.
